Back Up Important Data Before You Pack

Before disconnecting any computer, tablet, or external hard drive, make sure important files are backed up. Cloud storage and external backup drives can provide peace of mind if something unexpected happens during the move.

Even when equipment is packed carefully, protecting your data should always be the first step.

Take Photos of Cable Connections

Modern entertainment centers and home offices often include multiple devices, cables, and accessories. Before unplugging everything, take a few photos of how components are connected.

These photos can save a significant amount of time when reconnecting devices at your new home.

Use Original Boxes When Possible

Original packaging is often the safest option because it was designed specifically for the device. If you still have the boxes for your television, computer monitor, gaming console, or printer, use them.

If not, choose sturdy moving boxes and plenty of protective packing materials.

Protect Screens & Monitors

Consider Temperature & Transportation Conditions

Extreme heat and cold can affect sensitive electronics. If you’re moving during a Minnesota winter or a hot summer day, try to minimize the amount of time electronics spend exposed to outdoor temperatures.
